NC Servo Feeder
A Servo Feeder is a high-precision material feeding system used in metal stamping and fabrication industries. Its primary function is to accurately feed strip or coil material into a press machine at controlled intervals, ensuring precise positioning for punching, stamping, or forming operations.
Machine Overview
Unlike traditional mechanical or pneumatic feeders, a servo feeder uses an AC Servo Motor and digital control system to regulate feed length, speed, and synchronization with the press machine. This enables extremely accurate feeding with minimal material wastage and consistent production quality.
Working Principle
- Material Grip: The strip or coil material is held firmly between two precision feed rollers.
- Servo Drive Motion: The AC servo motor rotates the rollers with exact positional control.
- Press Synchronization: The feeder communicates with the press machine. When the press opens, the feeder advances the material; when the press closes, the feed stops.
- Material Alignment: A release mechanism briefly relaxes the roller pressure to allow pilot pins in the die to align the material perfectly.
Key Components
- Servo Motor and Drive: Provides precise motion control, speed regulation, and torque.
- Feed Rollers: Hardened alloy steel rollers designed to grip the strip securely without slippage.
- PLC / Control Panel: Allows the operator to program feed length (pitch), speed, and other operating parameters.
- Release Mechanism: Pneumatic or mechanical system that releases pressure on the rollers during die alignment.
- Guide Plates: Maintain proper strip alignment during feeding operations.
